Why were Castles built ?
they were bult for saftey and protection from attact and to show the owners wealth.

Where are Castles built ?
Castles are often built on hilltops or surrounded by water to make it easier to defend.

    They used the water from the river or lake near the castle to create a ring of water around it. Do you know what this was called?
